Groovy

Kind of reminded me of some pop song I've heard somewhere (but not musically, it just had a similar feel). I suppose you took the name from the 'stab' soundfonts? Liked all of the sounds you used, it was very versatile and not at all repetitive. Very nice stuff. Not exactly my genre of music, but it was amusing.

Good job!

Musical-Pants responds:

Yes, the name is from the stabs I used.
And amusing would be a good word for the creation process, this was always a diversionary side project; a distraction while I was working on Someday.
Also, some people have pointed out that parts of this piece resemble that awful Britney Spears song, but I can tell you and everyone else that it was purely an accident that they sound even remotely alike.
Thanks for your review!

Great stuff!

I've never heard the original, but this is great stuff! It sounds as though it was a metal song of some sort, since the piano could easily be used in some brutal riffs (yup, I'm pretty sure it was). Very cool stuff, I really liked it.

ganon95 responds:

yea it was metal

Great stuff!

Really good d'n'b, even though it's a bit softer than the way I like it. The melodies reminded me of the MegaMan X soundtrack, they have a similar feel. Very energetic, and I can't think of anything that should require improving.

Nice work, and congrats on getting the most out of FL 3, it isn't exactly the most rewarding program to use!

BassFX responds:

thanks for the review im gonna get fl 8.

Hm...

This could be a really good submission if you would reduce the hum/screech noise accompanying most sounds, they sound a bit too distorted. The bass line was a tad too repetitive for a 7:13 song, and the bass sounded slightly out-of-rythm (as I hear it, it was actually recorded, not synthesized, and this could probably be the cause of the problem due to mixing issues). Good, slow-paced drums with a steady beat.

Generally, it was good (when the recording issues are overlooked).

frinkzone40 responds:

thanks for your review. i know the recording quality isn't great, i recorded it when i was 12, so... well, i still am 12. XD but thanks nonetheless. Thanks for enjoying.

Stealthy

I liked the way you started the song, exactly how you described it, a great background for a stealth attack, or any sort of staying in hiding.

Liked the slow melody at 0:14 and the sound you used on it (some guitar with effects or a synth lead?), but i think the drums were a bit too quick when it comes to intervals between the snare hits. I loved the way you used the tom to create something much like a melody, but it was a bit too fast due to the snares (this wouldn't be a problem, but I don't think it fits well with the sneaking-around setting). Increasing the gaps to, let's say, every 4th beat instead of every 2nd would greatly improve the song in my view. But maybe this is just a personal preference of mine, so I won't give you a lower rating for it.

I found it a fun submission to listen to, and I believe it could be used in a very versatile collection of flash movies and/or games. Good work!

Dark-Frando responds:

If you ask me the snare drum sounds sort of military at the speed they are going, I went back to the song and tried it with a few less beats but it seemed off. Then again that might just be because I was working on the song so long that the overall song has grown on me =P

Thanks for reviewing!

Really cool

Great song, man! I loved all of the synths, especially the arpeggio's, this really hit the right 'happy HC' spot! Really good melodies and gabber-bass. The only complaint I could possibly make is about the sound of the hi-hat, which was a bit too white-noise-ish for my taste, but that doesn't change the fact that this is really good stuff!

Nice work!

Nav responds:

Thanks for the review! :D

Cool

Cool song, technically you covered the original excellently and added your own twist on the whole concept, but the rythm guitar parts were a bit too bassy which made them slightly too distorted. Just reducing the bass of the rythm guitar and cranking the bass guitar up a notch would make it a bit better. However, you definitely get extra points for getting something most MMX cover-authors on the portal neglect: the fact that basically, MMX songs are rock (if not metal) songs, and the distorted guitars cannot be replaced by soft synth sounds.

Good work!

demont-rider responds:

Thx man! and I know is grishing but I have corect it ^^ but I cant put this music again just for it and the end is realy bad but again I corect it ^^'

whatever thx for the review! =)

Great video game stuff

I agree with the similarity with Lemmings music, but that can only be a positive thing since those songs are really great! Liked the melody, it had something simple, almost childish to it, yet it was really nice. The bass line fitted in very well with the melody, and the drums were groovy! It also loops very nicely, so I believe it would be a great submission to be used in a Flash game.

Good work, really nice loop!

Dark-Frando responds:

I'm hoping someone uses this in a flash game because I'm quite interested to see how it would work and feel. Plus those funky drums just kind of set the song in place for me XD loving them =P

Thanks for commenting!

Simple, but nice

I liked the minimalistic beginning and found the strings entry to be a major turn in the way the song looks. I think it is a nice song, but for some reason it just didn't hit me in that 'special place'. :D Really cool delayed drums near the beginning, nice guitar melodies and unexpected strings. Cool stuff.

alternativesolution responds:

I know what you mean...only certain songs can have that effect on me. :D
This was my first submitted song, so I tried really hard on perfecting it. I'm glad it passed well ^^
Man, thanks so much. I really appreciate you taking the time to listen to all my stuff. I'm unbelievably happy!! ":D

Great atmospheric stuff

You got the point of ambient music perfectly, this is a great and soothing background melody. I'd say it could be a background for a Japan-placed game with some mysterious overtones.

The percussions were good and original, but I liked the harp sound best. It was an interesting melody.

Cool stuff, very ambiental. :D

alternativesolution responds:

Wow..I thought you'd totally 5 this. Review-wise.
Thanks for awesome score, and leaving such awesome reviews! :D

I write music. You listen to music. What a strange coincidence, isn't it?
