Groove Grindcore!

Well, the riffs were really good, something between groove and standard death-metal stuff, the drums were good but not too inventive, and then there came the vocals... They made me laugh like hell, especially since I remembered the times I went through grindcore cds such as Anal Blast and CBT with my friends and couldn't believe how funny such vocals can be.

Really good stuff, but I would suggest giving the drums a bit more sharp sound, both the kick and the snare sounded slightly dull. Other than that, great stuff!

GoreBastard responds:

Cheers man! Yeah, I think I should put reverb on the bass and snare or something.
Thanks for listening man!

Cool

Very good stuff, especially for a first submission! Really well developed melodies, especially the piano part. The phasing background strings created an interesting good atmosphere, somewhat mysterious. Loved the lead teasing at 3:16, really gave it a special edge. Very nice chord progressions, with very fitting bass-lines, and well-accentuated drums (the snare sound was really good, I generally dislike the white-noiseish type, but this on had that comfortable *smack* sound).

The song evolves in a very good way, and develops through all of the sounds, notably the lead and strings. Liked it a lot, really good trance stuff. Very stage-worthy, could be played on any party and pass as a world-known DJ's song.

Great work, I'm glad you decided to put some audio on NG after all!

xKore responds:

Thank you fo the review Hades,

I also don't like the noizy snares and found this one which packed some punch, im probably gonna use it for alot of my future projects. I see you on teh forums aswell :P

Very nice!

Great song, it had a very winter-like feel, probably because of the bells and guitar sound. Nice melodies and a really enjoyable atmosphere, all in all: a very good song. Good job!

Soar-throat Beatles

Really good remake, the growls were recorded really well, and the distortion on the guitars was just right. I would suggest a bit more brutal drums throughout the song, however. It might give it a more of a death-metal feeling. Other than that, excellent!

AngelsDontKill responds:

Thanks a lot, man! I really appreciate the review! You're actually saying something, unlike half of these people XD

How about this?

There's nothing wrong with the song, you just wanted us to listen to it a bit more carefully. XD

Anyway, it's a really good song, loved the funky bass-line and the guitar near the ending.

csdthegreat responds:

Nope. PMing for you.

Heavy

Great riffs with a heavy bass and drum beat, however I believe you should reduce the bass of the guitars (even though you might have increased intentionally to make it heavier), they sound too 'dull' this way. Really heavy, headbanging stuff. Great work!

HellBentGoose responds:

Thanks!

Bouncy

This would be a really great song, but I find the continuing repeating of string or piano chords tends to get a little irritating. I'd suggest simply holding the chord and giving the separated notes to another instrument (e.g. a bass) to keep the feel you wanted.

The happy melodies were really nice, I also liked the soundfonts you used- very funky. Cool stuff.

Amped2Flash responds:

I had a feeling it'd get repetitive. I think I may take this down and upload a revised version.

Thanks so much for the CC though. Means a lot.

Beautiful classical stuff

Great song, I loved the piano and guitar. The soft shaker-drums were a good choice for a song like this, they gave it a very mellow feeling. The melodies were great and very well-developed, and reminded me a bit of video game or movie outro-songs, suiting a scene with the main characters reminiscing on all they have lived through and being glad they lived through it.

The sounds you used were really good, the guitar sounded like an authentic plastic-stringer, and the piano was very dreamy in a soft, trebley sort of way. The background strings were a cool addition, they were just the right loudness not to be too intrusive, and yet they gave a great atmosphere to the entire song. However, I believe that you cut them of a bit too sharply at 2:06, I think a bit softer transition would suit that section much better.

This is excellent stuff, possibly even top 5 material. Good work.

dx9s responds:

wow.. thanks for the feedback. Yeah the strings dropped out a bit abruptly (I went back and listened more carefully) -- always room for improvement. Perhaps I should have faded the strings out over 1/2 a measure previous to the downbeat.

I am glad you liked the mix (levels and timbre) -- tried to balance the various pieces (timbre) -- it's not easy.

It's the choir ah's...

That's why it sounds like Chrono Trigger, the same midi sounds were used in the game. :D

Not bad, for a MIDI song, but I believe you should have made a slightly louder and constant bass section, the guitar-only parts (where the bass plays the exact same melody of the guitar) sound a bit hollow without the proper background. Other than that, it's OK. Also, I think this would be better used as a level song, It just doesn't have that tragic Game Over feel. Just my opinion.

It was nice, I liked it. 5/5, 9/10.

Need yoghurt...

Nice song, I liked the synths and the general feel of it (plus, the title gave me that warm, fuzzy feeling :3). However, I think you should have given it a bit mightier, more accentuated rythm section with some more smack-like snares to make it more powerful. Still, it was very groovy this way. Good stuff.

Btw, glad you passed the trial period! Good luck with your music, and try posting links to this in the Audio Advertisements thread if you already haven't!

Cheers!

Meisel responds:

thanks for the review :D I'm glad the trail period is over, feels like decades :/ thanks for all the help :D

I write music. You listen to music. What a strange coincidence, isn't it?
